Types of electric gates

Electric gates, also known as automatic gates, are a means of security and protection and are intended for use in private and public spaces. In private areas, electric gates are used mainly for parking, but also as entrance gates to the yard. An electric gate in a private home blends in with the overall design of the home, a unique design contributes to a special and personal look.

In public and business areas, gates are used for a wider variety of purposes, such as protecting parking lots or blocking access roads to factories and commercial or security complexes.

There are several types of electric gates , which are automatically operated by remote control or cell phone and which differ from each other in the way the gate opens, in design and size, in raw materials, in the types of motors and technologies on which they are based, and also in price. The leading types of electric gates on the market are sliding gates, swing gates and cantilever gates. It should be noted that companies that manufacture electric gates will provide their customers with a gate tailored to their specific needs in terms of size, weight, motor strength, color and design.

Electric sliding gates

Sliding gates, also known as towing gates, are massive electric gates made of galvanized steel bars or sealed metal panels. The gates open horizontally to the side, and if desired and possible, are swallowed into a hidden niche in the wall like sliding windows, with the heavier the gate, the stronger the rails and motor required to move it. These gates, which are suitable for private and public homes, are made of iron or aluminum and can be ordered in a variety of colors, designs and additions such as forgings, engraved patterns or a combination of additional raw materials such as glass and wood. It is important to know that there are two main types of sliding gates – an electric sliding gate on rails and a cantilever sliding gate: Gates made of aluminum have a clear advantage since the material is light compared to other metals, does not rust, and its ongoing maintenance is easy.

Sliding gate on rails

This electric gate moves on rails fixed to the ground, but can also be attached to an overhead rail. These are strong, large and massive gates. In wide passages, a double gate can be installed in two ways – as two separate units, each of which opens in opposite directions, or as a single, trailed unit that opens in one direction. In addition, in proportion to their size, these gates require a small electric motor, and they may be used for a variety of purposes, such as for private homes, shops and factories, and especially for underground parking lots.

Cantilever sliding gate

This device, also known as a floating gate, is an electric gate with a static appearance, which does not require rails and does not disrupt the road surface since it is raised above the ground and appears to be floating in the air. The gate opens to one side and is held and stabilized by a bridge or side rail, and in light of these data, a particularly powerful motor is required to drive it. The cantilever gate is also used for a wide variety of purposes, such as at the entrance to a house and parking the vehicle, in parking lots and at the entrance to factories, in public institutions or as a community gate. This is an ideal device for places where the ground is not level or is on a slope, and it should be noted that the strength, size and weight of the gate are determined by the size of the key required.

Electric swing gates

Electric swing gates are usually made of steel or aluminum and open on a hinge using a remote control, with the opening side being selectable according to the customer’s needs. Electric aluminum gates allow for greater flexibility in choosing the size of the gate due to their low weight. It is important to note that adequate clearance is required across the road in order to open them. Swing gates are lighter than sliding gates and come in a wide variety of designs, such as metal bars, designed iron panels, and a combination of glass or wood. The gates are supplied with several types of motors depending on their weight and frequency of use. These are gates that are very common in private homes, and are ideal for gates with narrow margins where it is not possible to install a sliding gate. Depending on the size of the gate, a single-wing or double-wing gate with a folding closure will be provided, while wheels must be added to a massive swing gate.

Electric lifting gates

Electric lifting gates are constructed from sections made of aluminum or iron. These are installations that lift upwards using an electric motor in several ways: as gates that roll up completely like a shutter into a box or that roll partially parallel to the ceiling, as well as as gates that lift upwards as a single unit. These gates are particularly suitable for places with narrow entrances and are an ideal solution for private shops, as they are easy to operate and extremely quiet, and also come in a variety of colors, patterns and textures. It should be noted that the gate can be opened fully or partially, and that the type of motor is determined by the size of the gate and the frequency of its use.
